Why visit?

Pamplemousses is a district in northwestern Mauritius, stretching from the outskirts of Port Louis to the northern coast at Grand Baie. Named after the grapefruit (pamplemousse in French), the district is best known for the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam Botanical Garden, one of the oldest botanical gardens in the Southern Hemisphere. The district includes some of the island's most popular tourist beaches and resorts, including Grand Baie, Trou aux Biches, and Mont Choisy.

When is the best time to visit?

The northwest coast has a drier microclimate than the east, making it pleasant year-round. The best months are May to November for sunny days and low rainfall. December to April is warmer and more humid, with peak tourist crowds.
