Why visit Triolet?

Triolet is the longest village in Mauritius, stretching along the B6 road in the Pamplemousses District. It is famous for the Maheswarnath Temple, the largest and most important Hindu temple complex on the island, first built in 1819 and dedicated to Shiva, Krishna, Vishnu, Muruga, Brahma, and Ganesha.

How do you get there?

Triolet is 2 km northwest of Pamplemousses village on the B6 road. Buses from Port Louis and Grand Baie pass through regularly.

The village stretches along the main road and is best explored by bus or car. The temple is easily accessible from the main road.

What are the things to do?

Maheswarnath Temple — a magnificent Hindu temple complex with colourful statues and intricate carvings, especially lively during Maha Shivaratri. The village also has several other small temples and a church.
