How do you get there?

Grand Baie is 25 km north of Port Louis via the M2 and B6 roads. Buses from Port Louis run every 10–15 minutes. A taxi from the airport costs around MUR 2,000.

The bay area is walkable. Taxis and rental cars are widely available. Bus services connect to nearby beaches and Port Louis.

What are the things to do?

  • Grand Baie Beach — the main public beach with white sand and calm waters.
  • Sunset Boulevard — a waterfront promenade with shops and restaurants.
  • Grand Baie Market — a craft market at the waterfront (weekends).

Swimming, snorkelling, and boat trips. Water sports including parasailing, jet-skiing, and glass-bottom boat tours. Day trips to Coin de Mire island and Ile aux Serpents.

Where to eat?

Grand Baie has the highest concentration of restaurants in Mauritius, offering French, Italian, Indian, Chinese, and Creole cuisines. Seafood is a specialty.

The waterfront is lined with bars, pubs, and nightclubs. Beach bars serve cocktails at sunset. Rum tasting is available at several venues.
