It lies just north of Tebing Tinggi Island and is administratively split into three districts — Rangsang, Rangsang Pesisir (Coastal Rangsang), and Rangsang Barat (West Rangsang) — with a population of roughly 60,000. It is a low-lying, largely peatland island known for traditional fishing villages and quiet coastal life rather than developed tourist infrastructure.
