Why visit Rantauprapat?

Rantauprapat is the capital (administrative seat) of Labuhanbatu Regency in North Sumatra. The Bilah River, a tributary of the Barumun River, runs through the town. It was formerly an independent administrative city but was merged back into Labuhanbatu Regency in 2003, and functions today as a major transit hub on the Trans-Sumatra Highway between Medan and Padang Sidempuan, surrounded by plantation landscape.
