Sharur

Sharur is a town and the administrative centre of Sharur District in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, located about 45 km northwest of Nakhchivan city. It is the second-largest town in the exclave and an agricultural hub in the Arpa River valley.

Summers are very hot (30–38°C), winters cold (−2 to 5°C).

From Nakhchivan city, drive 45 km northwest (50 min). Marshrutkas run from the bus station.

Walkable in the centre. Taxis for outlying areas.

• Jalilkand branch of the Nakhchivan Literature Museum — documents, photographs, and personal belongings of the Azerbaijani writer Jalil Mammadguluzadeh.

• Bazaar shopping — Sharur's market is known for fresh produce.

• Vineyard visits — the district's hot, long summers and river valley make it one of Nakhchivan's traditional grape-growing areas.
