Why visit Ordubad?

Ordubad is a historic town in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, located about 80 km southeast of Nakhchivan city near the Iranian border. It is one of the oldest settlements in the region, known for its well-preserved medieval architecture, narrow winding streets, and fruit orchards. The town lies in the Arax River valley at the foot of the Zangezur Mountains.

Summers are very hot (30–38°C), winters cold (0–5°C). Spring and autumn are best.

How do you get there?

By Plane

Nakhchivan International Airport (NAJ) is about 80 km northwest. A taxi costs 40–50 AZN.

By Car / Road

From Nakhchivan city, drive 80 km southeast (1.5 hr). Marshrutkas run from Nakhchivan bus station.

Ordubad is best explored on foot. Its historic quarter has narrow lanes unsuitable for vehicles.
