Why visit Julfa?

Julfa (also spelled Culfa) is a town in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, located about 40 km south of Nakhchivan city on the Arax River border with Iran. Historically a major Silk Road trading centre, Julfa was once home to a large Armenian community. The town is now primarily a border crossing point with Iran.

Summers are very hot (30–38°C), winters cold (0–5°C).

By Plane

Nakhchivan International Airport (NAJ) is about 40 km north.

By Car / Road

From Nakhchivan city, drive 40 km south (45 min). Marshrutkas run regularly. The border crossing to Iran is open.
