Ordubad National Park

Ordubad National Park (also known as Ordubad Milli Park) is a protected area in Ordubad District, Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, covering the high-altitude landscapes of the Zangezur Mountains. The park is known for its alpine meadows, deep river gorges, and diverse wildlife, including the Persian leopard, bezoar goat, and mouflon. It was established to protect the unique mountain ecosystems of the region.

Summers are cool (14–24°C) at altitude, winters very cold and snowy. The best time to visit is June–September.

Nakhchivan International Airport (NAJ) is about 90 km northwest.

By Car / Road

From Ordubad town, drive 15–20 km north into the mountains (40 min–1 hr). A 4WD vehicle is essential. A taxi from Ordubad costs 20–30 AZN.

The park has no internal roads. Access is on foot or by 4WD on rough tracks.

• Wildlife — Persian leopard, bezoar goat, mouflon, and golden eagle (sightings rare).

• Mountain flora — Endemic alpine plants in summer.

• Photography — Dramatic mountain landscapes.

There are no food facilities in the park. Self-cater with supplies brought from Ordubad.

Ordubad National Park has no facilities. Bring all supplies from Ordubad (20 km south) or Nakhchivan (90 km northwest).

• Julfa (60 km southwest, 1.5 hr) — Border town.
• Batabat (120 km west, 3 hr) — Mountain lake and ski area.
