Tongxiao

Tongxiao (通霄) is a coastal township in southwestern Miaoli County, Taiwan, known for its beaches, wind turbines, and the prominent Tongxiao Power Plant. The area has a relaxed coastal atmosphere with seafood and coastal scenery.

The climate is humid subtropical. October to March are the best months.

By Plane

Taichung International Airport (RMQ) is about 50 km south. A taxi takes about 50 minutes and costs around NT$1,200–1,500.

By Train

Tongxiao Station (通霄車站) is on the TRA west coast line. From Miaoli Station, the journey takes about 20 minutes (NT$40–60).

By Car / Road

Tongxiao is accessible via Freeway 1 (Tongxiao exit) and Provincial Highway 1. From Miaoli City, drive southwest for about 20 minutes.

The town centre is walkable. A car is useful for reaching coastal areas.
