About Zhunan

Zhunan (竹南) is a coastal town in northwestern Miaoli County, Taiwan, located on the border with Hsinchu. It is known as the home of the Miaoli HSR station, its sandy beaches, and the Zhunan Wetlands, a coastal ecology area.

The climate is humid subtropical. October to March are the best months.

How to reach

By Plane

Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) is about 70 km north. A taxi takes about 1 hour and costs around NT$1,600–2,000.

By Train

Zhunan Station (竹南車站) is on the TRA west coast line. The Miaoli HSR station is located in Zhunan, providing high-speed connections to Taipei and Kaohsiung. From Hsinchu station, local trains take about 10 minutes.

By Car / Road

Zhunan is accessible via Freeway 1 (Zhunan exit). From Hsinchu City, drive south for about 15 minutes.

A car or scooter is useful for reaching the beaches and wetlands. Buses connect the station to the town centre.
