Why visit Tongluo?

Tongluo (銅鑼) is a rural township in central Miaoli County, Taiwan, located in a valley surrounded by hills. It is known for its Hakka heritage, traditional tung blossom trees (which bloom in white in spring), and the historic Tongluo Old Street.

The climate is humid subtropical. The best time is during the tung blossom season (April–May) or October–March for hiking.

How do you get there?

By Plane

Taichung International Airport (RMQ) is about 45 km south. A taxi takes about 45 minutes and costs around NT$1,100–1,400.

By Train

Tongluo Station (銅鑼車站) is on the TRA mountain line. From Miaoli Station, the journey takes about 15 minutes (NT$30–50).

By Car / Road

Tongluo is accessible via Freeway 1 (Tongluo exit). From Miaoli City, drive south for about 15 minutes.

The old street is walkable. A car is useful for exploring the countryside.
