Why visit Ji'an?
Ji'an (吉安) is a suburban township immediately south of Hualien City, Taiwan. It is known for its Japanese-era heritage, including the Ji'an Matsuyama Temple (慶修院), a beautifully preserved Shingon Buddhist temple from the 1920s. The area also has hot springs and scenic walking trails along the Qilai Mountain foothills.
The climate is tropical. October to April are the best months. Ji'an is well-connected to Hualien City and serves as a quiet residential base for exploring the region.

By Plane
Hualien Airport (HUN) is about 10 km north. A taxi takes about 15 minutes and costs around NT$300–400.
By Train
Ji'an Station (吉安車站) is on the TRA east coast line, one stop south of Hualien Station. From Hualien, the journey takes 5 minutes (NT$20–30).
By Car / Road
Ji'an is accessible via Provincial Highway 9. From Hualien City, drive south for about 10 minutes. Local buses connect Ji'an to Hualien City.
The township is spread out. YouBike is available in some areas. Taxis and local buses connect to Hualien City.
