Yataity del Norte is a town and district in the San Pedro department of Paraguay, founded on December 22, 1965. It lies on Route 8 ("Dr. Blas Garay"), roughly 263 km from Asunción. The district borders San Estanislao to the north, Caaguazú department to the south, the Tapiracuá stream (separating it from Caaguazú) to the east, and the district of Unión to the west. Its economy is predominantly agricultural — cattle raising alongside crops such as citrus, banana, sunflower, yerba mate, and mandioca (cassava) grown in the district's fertile soil. The climate is humid and subtropical, with an average temperature around 23°C, summer highs near 35°C, and winter lows down to about 10°C. As of the 2002 national census the district had roughly 12,500 inhabitants, about 89% of them rural. Both Spanish and Guaraní (spoken locally as jopara, a Spanish-Guaraní mix) are in everyday use.
