Damak is a municipality in Jhapa District at the eastern end of Nepal's Terai plains, located near the Mechi River along the Indian border. It functions as an important commercial and educational centre in easternmost Nepal, serving the surrounding agricultural region known for rice, jute, and tea production. The town has seen steady growth and hosts several colleges and hospitals.
The climate is humid subtropical with very hot summers (April–June), a heavy monsoon (June–September), and mild winters (October–February). The best travel period is October through March. Damak is laid out along the Mahendra Highway with a compact commercial core.

By Plane
Bhadrapur Airport (BDP), also known as Chandragadhi Airport, is the nearest airport, about 30 km east. A taxi costs around Rs 1000–1500.
By Train
No passenger railway in the area. The nearest Indian railhead is Galgalia in Bihar, about 15 km south.
By Car / Road
Damak sits on the Mahendra Highway (NH-01). Buses from Kathmandu (500 km, 10–12 hours, Rs 800–1800), Biratnagar (45 km, 1 hour, Rs 100–200), and Kakarbhitta (30 km east, 45 minutes) pass through regularly.
Rickshaws and tempos are the primary local transport (Rs 20–50). The town is relatively flat and walkable in its central sections. Taxis are available for out-of-town trips.

- Mechi Pul (Mechi Bridge) – The bridge over the Mechi River marking the Nepal-India border, a bustling crossing point.
- Satashidham – A Hindu temple complex with multiple shrines, popular during festivals.

Explore the surrounding tea estates on bicycle or on foot. Visit the Mechi River banks for a glimpse of cross-border trade activity. The nearby Kakarbhitta border crossing offers a lively border-town atmosphere.
