Why visit Karakol National Park?

Karakol National Park is a protected area in Issyk-Kul Region, located about 40 km southeast of Karakol in the Terskey Ala-Too range. It was established to protect the region's unique ecosystems and wildlife, which includes snow leopard, ibex, and golden eagles.

The park is a popular destination for trekkers and mountaineers, with trails leading to the Ala-Kul Lake, one of the most stunning alpine lakes in Kyrgyzstan. The climate is severe: short, cool summers (10-15°C at altitude) and long, harsh winters. The trekking season runs June to September.
