Nouméa is served by La Tontouta International Airport (about 45 km northwest), with flights from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and other Pacific destinations. The domestic airport (Magenta) serves flights to the Loyalty Islands and other parts of Grande Terre. Buses and taxis connect the airport to the city. Cruise ships dock at the port.
Nouméa has a public bus network (Karuïa Bus) covering the city and suburbs. Taxis are available. The city center and the Baie des Citrons area are walkable. Bicycle rental is available. Rental cars are useful for exploring beyond the city.
