Saint-Lo

Normandie, France

Why visit Saint-Lo?

Saint-Lô is the prefecture of the Manche department in lower Normandy, situated on the Vire River. The city was heavily bombed during the Battle of Normandy in 1944 — it was a key German communications hub — and was rebuilt after the war. Known as the "Capital of Ruins" in the aftermath, it has since become a symbol of resilience.
