How do you get there?

Barfleur is accessible by car from Cherbourg (about 25 km east via the D902). There is no train station in the village; the nearest is at Valognes or Cherbourg. Bus services are limited, so a car is recommended.

The village is compact and easily explored on foot. The harbor, church, and narrow lanes are all within a short walk. Parking is available at the edge of the village.

Seafood is the specialty — mussels, oysters, and fish served in harbor-front restaurants. Crêperies offer buckwheat galettes as a casual alternative.

Accommodation consists mostly of chambres d'hôtes and gîtes in converted granite houses. There are a few small hotels within walking distance of the harbor.

Barfleur has artisan shops selling local pottery, seafood preserves, and Norman food products. A small market operates in summer.
