Why visit Bayeux?

Bayeux is a historic town in Calvados, best known as the home of the Bayeux Tapestry, an 11th-century embroidered cloth that chronicles the Norman conquest of England. The town survived World War II largely intact and retains a beautifully preserved medieval center with its stunning Norman Gothic cathedral.
