Asosa is the capital of the Benshangul-Gumaz Region in western Ethiopia, situated in a valley near the Sudan border. How do you get there?

By Plane

Asosa Airport (ASO IATA) has domestic flights from Addis Ababa, operated by Ethiopian Airlines. The airport is 5 km from the town centre.

By Car / Road

Asosa is 700 km west of Addis Ababa (12–14 hours by car) via Nekemte and the western highlands. Buses from Addis Ababa run daily. The road is paved but can be rough in sections.

The town is walkable in the centre. Bajajs and minibuses serve the neighbourhoods and surrounding villages.
