Krong Buk

Krong Buk (also spelled Krông Búk) is a district in central Đắk Lắk Province, located about 30 km north of Buon Ma Thuot. The district is one of the province's major coffee-producing areas, with vast plantations covering the gently rolling hills. It is named after the Krông Búk River and offers a quiet rural landscape characteristic of the Central Highlands.

The climate follows the Central Highlands pattern: dry from November to April and rainy from May to October.

By Plane

The nearest airport is Buon Ma Thuot Airport (BMV IATA), about 40 km south. A taxi takes roughly 45 minutes.

By Car / Road

Krong Buk is about 30 km north of Buon Ma Thuot, accessible via local roads that connect to National Route 14. Buses from Buon Ma Thuot serve the district.

The district centre is walkable. A motorbike is recommended for exploring the surrounding countryside.

• Coffee plantations — Krong Buk is famous for its coffee. Endless rows of coffee trees cover the landscape, making for a scenic drive.
• Krông Búk River — The river offers pleasant riverside scenery, especially in the rainy season.

Visit coffee farms to learn about cultivation and processing. Cycle or ride through the plantation countryside.

The district town has small restaurants serving phở, cơm tấm, bún, and canh chua. The market has food stalls selling bánh mì, xôi (sticky rice), and grilled meats throughout the day. Coffee is available everywhere between meals.

Basic guesthouses (nhà nghỉ) are available in the district centre, offering simple rooms from 150,000 dong. Most visitors stay in Buon Ma Thuot, 30 km south, and visit Krong Buk as a day trip.

Coffee beans — this is one of Đắk Lắk's most important coffee-producing districts. Fresh beans can be purchased directly from local farms.
