The district is one of the province's major coffee-producing areas, with vast plantations covering the gently rolling hills. It is named after the Krông Búk River and offers a quiet rural landscape characteristic of the Central Highlands.
The climate follows the Central Highlands pattern: dry from November to April and rainy from May to October.

By Car / Road
Krong Buk is about 30 km north of Buon Ma Thuot, accessible via local roads that connect to National Route 14. Buses from Buon Ma Thuot serve the district.
The district centre is walkable. A motorbike is recommended for exploring the surrounding countryside.
