Senirkent

Isparta, Turkey

Why visit Senirkent?

Senirkent is a town in western Isparta Province, in Turkey's Lakes Region, and the seat of Senirkent District (area 521 km², population around 10,700 as of 2022; the town itself is home to roughly 4,500 people). It has a hot-summer Mediterranean climate — hot, dry summers and cold, wetter winters. The town is remembered for a catastrophic debris flow (mudflow) that struck on 13 June 1995 after a prolonged drought, following heavy rainfall in the surrounding hills; barriers and reforestation were carried out afterward to reduce the risk of a repeat event.
