Dogubayazit

Ağrı, Turkey

Why visit Dogubayazit?

Doğubayazıt is a historic town in Ağrı Province, located just 35 km from the Iranian border, at the foot of Mount Ararat (Ağrı Dağı). It is the primary base for climbing Turkey's highest mountain and is home to the stunning İshak Paşa Palace, one of Turkey's most magnificent Ottoman-period palaces. The town has a strategic location on the ancient Silk Road and has been a crossroads of cultures for centuries.

Doğubayazıt has a harsh continental climate with very cold winters and warm summers. The best time for climbing Ararat is June–September.
