Hamur

Hamur is a district in Ağrı Province, located just northeast of the provincial capital on the eastern Anatolian plateau. It is a small, quiet rural town where agriculture and livestock farming are the primary livelihoods. The landscape consists of wide-open plains and gentle hills characteristic of eastern Turkey, with the distant peaks of the surrounding mountains visible on clear days.

Hamur has a harsh continental climate with very cold, snowy winters and warm, dry summers. The best time to visit is between June and September when temperatures are pleasant and the landscape is green.

By Plane

Ağrı Ahmed-i Hani Airport (AJI IATA) is about 15 km south of Hamur, with daily flights from Istanbul and Ankara. Taxis are available from the airport.

By Car / Road

Hamur is about 15 km northeast of Ağrı city, approximately a 20-minute drive. The road is paved and in good condition. Regular minibuses run from Ağrı's city centre.

The town is small enough to explore on foot. Taxis and dolmuşes are available for trips to the surrounding villages.
