Konibodom

Sughd, Tajikistan

Why visit Konibodom?

Konibodom is a town in northern Sughd Region, located in the western Ferghana Valley approximately 40 km northwest of Isfara and 50 km east of Khujand. It is the administrative centre of Konibodom District and one of the oldest towns in the Ferghana Valley, with a history stretching back to the Silk Road period.

The town's name means "the town of pistachios" in Tajik, and the surrounding district is indeed known for its pistachio groves, as well as cotton, fruit, and vegetable production. Konibodom has a relaxed, provincial character with a lively bazaar, several historical mosques, and the nearby Kayrakkum Reservoir offering recreational possibilities. The climate is typical of the Ferghana Valley: hot, dry summers (35–40°C) and cool winters.
