Yingge

Yingge (鶯歌) is a district in southwestern New Taipei City, Taiwan, famous throughout Taiwan as the ceramic and pottery capital. The town is filled with pottery shops, studios, and the excellent Yingge Ceramics Museum, making it a must-visit for anyone interested in Taiwanese crafts.

The climate is humid subtropical. October to March are the best months.

By Plane

Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA) is about 30 km north. A taxi takes about 35 minutes and costs around NT$700–900.

By Train

Yingge Station (鶯歌車站) is on the TRA west coast line. From Taipei Main Station, the journey takes about 25 minutes (NT$40–60).

By Car / Road

Yingge is accessible via Freeway 3 (Yingge exit). From Taipei, drive southwest for about 30 minutes.

The pottery district and museum area are walkable from the station.

• Convenience stores are available for quick meals and drinks.

Tap water is not safe to drink; bottled water is widely available. Local tea shops serve bubble tea and Taiwanese tea. Convenience stores sell beverages.

• Budget: Limited options. Day trip from Taipei recommended.

• Ceramics and pottery — The main reason to visit. Everything from teacups to vases.
• Yingge is the best place in Taiwan to buy high-quality ceramics.

• Sanxia — 5 km east. Historic town with Zushi Temple.
• Taoyuan City — 10 km south.
• Banqiao — 12 km north. New Taipei's government centre.
• Taipei City — 25 km north.
