Gongliao

Gongliao (貢寮) is a coastal district in eastern New Taipei City, Taiwan, best known for Fulong Beach — one of northern Taiwan's best beaches — and the annual Hohaiyan Rock Festival held there in summer. The area also includes the scenic Caoling Historic Trail.

The climate is humid subtropical. June to September are the best months for beach activities.

By Plane

Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA) is about 45 km west. A taxi takes about 1 hour and costs around NT$1,200–1,500.

By Train

Fulong Station (福隆車站) is on the TRA east coast line. From Taipei Main Station, the journey takes about 1 hour 10 minutes (NT$100–150).

By Car / Road

Gongliao is accessible via Provincial Highway 2. From Taipei, drive east for about 1 hour.

The beach area is walkable from the station. A car is useful for the historic trail.

• Fulong lunchboxes — The station is famous for its bento boxes.

• Shuangxi — 8 km west. Mountain town.
