Wanrong (萬榮) is a rural township in central Hualien County, Taiwan, located in the Huatung Valley along the eastern foothills of the Central Mountain Range. The area is home to indigenous communities, primarily the Truku (Taroko) and Bunun peoples. Wanrong is known for its hot springs, logging history, and scenic mountain landscapes.

The climate is tropical, with cooler temperatures in the higher elevations. October to April are the best months. The township is sparsely populated, with small villages.

How do you get there?

By Plane

Hualien Airport (HUN) is about 45 km north. A taxi takes about 50 minutes and costs around NT$1,100–1,400.

By Train

Wanrong does not have a TRA station. The nearest station is Guangfu Station or Fenglin Station on the TRA east coast line. From these, taxis serve Wanrong.

By Car / Road

Wanrong is accessible via County Road 66, which branches west from Provincial Highway 9. From Hualien City, drive south for about 45 minutes, then west.

A car or scooter is essential for exploring this rural and mountainous area.
