Why visit Fuli?

Fuli (富里) is a rural township in southern Hualien County, Taiwan, located in the Huatung Valley between the Central Mountain Range and the Coastal Mountain Range. Known for its high-quality rice production and the stunning Sixty Stone Mountain (六十石山), which offers spectacular views of golden daylily fields in summer, Fuli is one of Taiwan's most beautiful agricultural areas.

The climate is tropical. The best time to visit is August to October for the daylily bloom. The township is spread out, with farms and villages dotting the valley.

How do you get there?

By Plane

Hualien Airport (HUN) is about 80 km north. A taxi takes about 1 hour 15 minutes and costs around NT$2,000–2,500.

By Train

Fuli Station (富里車站) is on the TRA east coast line. From Hualien Station, the journey takes about 1 hour 15 minutes (NT$200–300). From Taitung, about 40 minutes.

By Car / Road

Fuli is accessible via Provincial Highway 9. From Hualien City, drive south for about 1 hour 15 minutes. The route through the Huatung Valley is scenic.

A car or scooter is essential for reaching Sixty Stone Mountain and other rural attractions.

  • Sixty Stone Mountain (六十石山) — A hillside covered in daylily fields with panoramic valley views. Best at sunset during August–October bloom season.
