San Vicente Pancholo

San Pedro, Paraguay

Why visit San Vicente Pancholo?

San Vicente Pancholo is one of Paraguay's newest districts, created in November 2016 out of territory formerly belonging to General Isidoro Resquín, where it was known as Colonia San Vicente or Colonia Pancholo. Settlement of the colony dates to around 1987; its name honors Francisco "Pancholo" Caballero Álvarez (1896–1958), a well-known local resident, a nickname adopted during a folkloric music festival. Nicolás Vargas Navarro was elected the district's first mayor in March 2017. It lies about 262 km north of Asunción and has a population of roughly 8,000.
