Ras Al Hadd
Janūb ash Sharqīyah, Oman
Why visit Ras Al Hadd?
Ras Al Hadd is a small fishing village at the easternmost point of the Arabian Peninsula, located about 35 km south of Sur in the Janub ash Sharqiyah region. It is famous as one of the most important green turtle (Chelonia mydas) nesting sites in the world, alongside the adjacent Ras Al Jinz reserve. The village has a long history as a fishing community and offers a remote, windswept coastal experience.
The climate is hot year-round, with the khareef (monsoon) from June to August bringing cloud and strong winds. The best time to visit for turtle viewing is May to October.
