Masirah
Janūb ash Sharqīyah, Oman
Why visit Masirah?
Masirah (Masira) is a large island off the eastern coast of Oman, approximately 95 km long and 14 km wide, located in the Arabian Sea. It is part of the Janub ash Sharqiyah Governorate and is accessible by ferry from Shannah. The island is known for its pristine, windswept beaches, important sea turtle nesting sites, and excellent kitesurfing conditions. Masirah has a wild, untamed beauty and a sparse population concentrated in a few fishing villages.
The climate is hot year-round, with strong winds from May to September that make kitesurfing ideal. The best time for wind sports is June–August; for general tourism, October–April is more pleasant.
