Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan

Janūb ash Sharqīyah, Oman

Why visit Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan?

Jaalan Bani Bu Hassan is a historic town in the Janub ash Sharqiyah region of Oman, situated inland from Sur on the edge of the Wahiba Sands. It is one of two Jaalan settlements (the other being Jaalan Bani Bu Ali) and is known as a centre for Bedouin culture, with a strong tradition of camel breeding and desert life. The area offers access to some of Oman's most remote and beautiful desert landscapes.

The climate is extreme — very hot in summer and mild in winter (November–February). The town is traditional and conservative.
