Why visit?

Kebbi State is a state in north-western Nigeria, bordered by Niger to the north. Its capital, Birnin Kebbi, is a historic centre of the Kebbi Emirate. The state is best known for the Argungu Fishing Festival, a spectacular four-day event on the Matan Fada River that attracts visitors from across West Africa. The state lies within the Sokoto River basin and is a major producer of rice, groundnuts, and fish.

The population is predominantly Hausa-Fulani, with the Kebbawa being the main subgroup. The dry season (November–April) is the best time to visit, especially for the Argungu Festival (February or March).
