Why visit Bunza?
Bunza is a town on the Sokoto River, headquarters of Bunza Local Government Area, which was created in 1975 out of the then-Sokoto State. The LGA covers about 876 square kilometers and had a population of roughly 121,000 at the 2006 census; two neighboring LGAs, Kalgo and Suru, were later carved out of the original Bunza. The area has a tropical wet-and-dry climate and a farming and trading economy built on groundnuts, rice, millet, sorghum, and onions, along with hunting and metalwork.
