Bakori
Katsina, Nigeria
Why visit Bakori?
Bakori is a town in southern Katsina State and the headquarters of Bakori Local Government Area, created in 1989. It borders Funtua to the west, Malumfashi to the north, Danja to the south, and Kankara to the east. The population is predominantly Hausa-Fulani Muslim, with a smaller number of Maguzawa (traditional-religion Hausa) communities around Tsiga village. Farming — both rain-fed and irrigated, including at the Bakori dam site and along the river and floodplain — is the main occupation, alongside cattle rearing and fishing; the town also hosts a Federal Government Girls College.
