Owerri is the capital city of Imo State in south-eastern Nigeria, known as the "Entertainment Capital of the East." It is a clean, well-planned city with a reputation for its vibrant nightlife, restaurants, and cultural scene. Owerri is the seat of the Eze Imo, the traditional ruler, and is home to the Imo State University and the Federal University of Technology, Owerri.

The city has a tropical climate with a rainy season from April to October. The dry season (November–March) is the best time to visit.

How do you get there?

By Plane

Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport (QOW) is about 20 km from the city centre. Taxis cost about ₦2,000.

By Train

No passenger rail service.

By Car / Road

Owerri is connected by road to Port Harcourt (1.5 hrs), Enugu (2 hrs), Aba (1 hr), and Lagos (6 hrs).

Taxis and tricycles are the main local transport.
