Naka

Benue, Nigeria

Why visit Naka?

Naka is a town in central Benue State and the headquarters of Gwer West Local Government Area, established on 29 September 1991 when Gwer West was carved out of the former Gwer East LGA. The area is inhabited mainly by Tiv and Idoma (Injaha) communities, and its economy rests on agriculture, trading, and fishing along the Benue River basin — Gwer West is known as one of the state's leading producers of honey and rice, alongside other crops such as yams and cassava. Mineral deposits including salt, clay, limestone, and beryl have also been recorded in the area.

The climate is tropical with a rainy season from April to October.
