About Bhadrapur
Bhadrapur, also known as Chandragadhi, is a municipality in Jhapa District and serves as the seat of the district government. Located in the easternmost Terai near the Mechi River border with India, Bhadrapur functions as a key entry point for air travellers flying into eastern Nepal, with its airport being the primary air gateway for the region. The town has grown steadily as an administrative and service centre.
The climate is humid subtropical with hot summers (April–June), a pronounced monsoon season (June–September), and mild winters (October–February). The best time to visit is October through March. The town is compact and centred around the main market square.

By Plane
Bhadrapur Airport (BDP) – also known as Chandragadhi Airport – is the town's biggest transport asset, with daily flights from Kathmandu (40 minutes, around US$100–200). The airport is about 3 km from the town centre.
By Train
The nearest railway station is Galgalia, Bihar (India), about 8 km south, offering connections to Siliguri and the broader Indian rail network.
By Car / Road
Bhadrapur is on the Mahendra Highway. Buses from Kathmandu (500 km, 10–12 hours, Rs 800–1800), Biratnagar (55 km, 1.5 hours), and Kakarbhitta (10 km) connect regularly. The Kakarbhitta border crossing is the main overland route from India.
Rickshaws and tempos cost Rs 20–50 within town. The area is flat and walkable for short distances. Taxis are available for airport transfers and longer trips.
