Milange

Zambézia, Mozambique

Why visit Milange?

Milange, seat of Milange District, sits just south of the Ruo River, which forms the border with Malawi here — the Mulanje Massif rises across the border in Malawi, with Mount Tumbine immediately east of town on the Mozambican side. It functions as a busy trade and transit hub for the crossing, with a market drawing traders from both countries. The surrounding highlands, extending toward the tea-growing town of Gurué, were developed as tea plantation land in the colonial era and remain an agricultural district today.
