Chinde

Zambézia, Mozambique

Why visit Chinde?

Chinde is a port town at the mouth of the Zambezi River, on the Indian Ocean coast of Zambézia Province. It was historically an important port for river traffic on the Zambezi, serving as an entry point for explorers and traders travelling into the African interior. The town has a quiet, faded colonial atmosphere with views over the vast Zambezi estuary. It is a good base for exploring the Zambezi delta's channels, mangroves, and birdlife.
