Igalo is a popular coastal town located in the Herceg Novi municipality of Montenegro. It is situated along the northern shore of the Bay of Kotor, seamlessly merging with the neighboring town of Herceg Novi. Igalo is located along the Adriatic Highway (E65). It is easily reached by bus from major Montenegrin cities like Kotor, Budva, and Podgorica, as well as from Dubrovnik in neighboring Croatia. The closest airports are Tivat Airport (30 km away via the Kamenari-Lepetane ferry) and Dubrovnik Airport (25 km away).
The town is highly walkable, with a flat coastal promenade (Šetalište Pet Danica) connecting Igalo directly to the center of Herceg Novi. Local buses and taxis are readily available for travel within the municipality.
What are the things to do?
The main landmark is the Dr. Simo Milošević Institute, a massive, world-famous Mediterranean health center. Also worth seeing is the Tito's Villa (Villa Galeb), the former summer residence of Yugoslav President Josip Broz Tito, which is open for guided tours. The coastal views of the Luštica Peninsula and the entrance to the Bay of Kotor are spectacular.
