Togean Islands National Park
Sulawesi, Indonesia
Why visit Togean Islands National Park?
The Togean Islands are an archipelago in the Gulf of Tomini, Central Sulawesi, consisting of several large islands (Batudaka, Togian, Talatakoh, Una-Una, Walea Bahi, and Walea Kodi) and dozens of smaller islets. Part of the Togean Islands National Park, this remote destination offers some of the most pristine and biodiverse marine habitats in Indonesia, with healthy coral reefs, white sand beaches, and laid-back island vibes.
The islands are sparsely populated by the Togean people and the Bajo (sea gypsy) communities who live in stilt villages over the water. The isolation has preserved both the natural environment and a traditional way of life. The park protects coral reefs, seagrass beds, mangrove forests, and nesting sites for sea turtles.
The dry season (May–October) offers the best conditions for diving, snorkelling, and island travel. The wet season brings rough seas and limited boat schedules.
