Bantaeng

Sulawesi, Indonesia

Why visit Bantaeng?

Bantaeng is a regency capital in South Sulawesi, located on the southern coast of the island about 120 km southeast of Makassar. The town sits at the foot of the Lompobattang Mountain range, overlooking the Flores Sea. It is a traditional agricultural and trading centre known for its rice paddies, fruit orchards, and the historic Bantaeng port.

The town has a long history as a trading port, with connections extending to the spice routes of eastern Indonesia. Today, it is a quiet, relaxed town with a Dutch colonial-era church, traditional markets, and access to the scenic beaches of the southern coast.

The climate is tropical with a dry season June–September and wet season November–April.
