Tentena

Sulawesi, Indonesia

Why visit Tentena?

Tentena is a town on the northern shore of Lake Poso in Central Sulawesi, at the outlet where the Poso River begins its course to the coast. With a population of around 10,000, it is a peaceful, lakeside settlement known for its beautiful setting, cool climate, and position as the gateway to the Bada Valley megaliths and the Lore Lindu region.

Lake Poso is one of the largest lakes in Sulawesi — a deep, clear body of water surrounded by forested hills. Tentena is a popular stop for travellers, offering water activities, nearby waterfalls, and access to the mysterious prehistoric megaliths of the Bada Valley.

The climate is pleasant with daytime temperatures of 22–30°C. The dry season June–October offers the best conditions.
