How do you get there?

Canala is accessible by road from Nouméa (about a 2.5-hour drive via RT1 and RP3, crossing the mountain range). Buses run from Nouméa a few times daily. The nearest airport is in Nouméa.

The town itself is compact and walkable. To explore the surrounding valleys, waterfalls, and tribal villages, a car is essential. Roads are winding and can be rough.

Canala has a few small restaurants and snack bars serving simple meals. Bougna and other Kanak dishes are available at local eateries or can be arranged through guesthouses.

Accommodation is limited to a few guesthouses and gîtes. Advance booking is recommended. More options are available in La Foa or Poindimié.

The local market sells tropical fruits and vegetables. Handicrafts from nearby tribes include woven items and shell work.
