Why visit Kombolcha?
Kombolcha is an industrial and transport town in the Amara Region of northern Ethiopia, situated on the main Addis Ababa–Mekelle highway at about 1,800 m elevation. It lies 20 km south-west of Dessie in the highlands of Wollo. The town is known for its textile factories, cement plant, and a small airport that serves the southern Wollo area.
Kombolcha has a busy roadside character as a major stop for buses and trucks travelling the north-south corridor. It has a large market and several industries that give it an economic importance beyond its modest size.
