Geleb

Ansabā, Eritrea

Why visit Geleb?

Geleb is a small village in the Ansaba region of central-western Eritrea, situated in the dry highlands west of Keren. It is primarily a rural agricultural settlement, with the local economy centred on livestock herding and subsistence farming. The population is mainly Tigre, with cultural and linguistic ties to the broader highland communities of the region. The area is characterised by rocky hills, acacia bushland, and seasonal watercourses.

The climate follows the pattern of the Eritrean highlands: a hot dry season from October to June, with a short rainy season between July and September that transforms the landscape. The coolest and most pleasant months are December through February.
