Ngoko
Cuvette, Congo
Why visit Ngoko?
Ngoko is a remote settlement in northern Cuvette department, surrounded by dense primary rainforest. The community lives by fishing, hunting, and subsistence agriculture, maintaining a traditional way of life that has changed little over generations. The settlement is extremely isolated, with no road connection in the rainy season and minimal services.
The climate is equatorial, hot and humid year-round. The driest months (June–September and December–February) offer the best window for access, though conditions remain challenging.
